The Morning After The Night Before

Image from Pinterest

Everyone loves having a good evening out with friends, enjoying good food and good wine (or whatever your drink of choice might be). But sometimes a really great night turns into a truly awful morning, spent regretting our actions of the hight before and leaving us promising ourselves that we'll never drink again. Since we all know that this isn't going to happen, I've been inspired by Casper to share a few ways of making the morning after a little more bearable when spending the day snuggled on that cosy mattress is out of the question.

L'Occitane - One of the best French Skincare Brands

There are so many brands out there that I thought I'd start a new series. Every other month or so, I thought I'd concentrate on a brand and tell you about my favourites products. To start off this series, I thought I'd start with one of my favourite brands of all time -L'Occitane.Where to start? L'Occitane is well-known for its skincare, and while I have had a few facials at their Subiaco store, I have to admit that I haven't actually purchased anything from their skincare line yet.

I have tried quite a few of their body products though and a lot of them have found their way into my favourites.

Hand Cream
The Shea Butter Hand Cream is renowned the world over! It does what it says on the tin, hydrating your hands like nothing else. I have been using it for the last 6 or so years, wen I first discovered it when I was in Berlin, and although I do stray and try other hand creams, I do always go back to this one. It is extremely thick and moisturising. L'Occitane also has a hand cream in almost all their collections so everyone will find a fragrance they like and if you get bored with one, you can try another which is just as good.

Foot Cream
This one has got to be my all time favourite foot cream - the Shea Butter Foot Cream. I have also been using this one for around 6 years and I have to say that I haven't strayed once. I have been tempted, but then I remember how fantastic this cream is. It has a hint of lavender which works really well as I normally apply it at night after my shower. It leaves my feet feeling so soft and moisturised but it isn't as thick as the hand cream, surprisingly enough. This is also the only foot cream that L'Occitane does, and since it works so well, I don't see why they'd need to make another one.

Shower Oil
The Almond Shower Oil is one of L'Occitane's cult products. Everyone should have heard about it by now, and I have to say, I agree with all the hype. The light almond fragrance is divine and applying this oil in the shower not only feels extremely luxurious, but it also leaves your skin feeling so soft and moisturised after. Using this is one way to elevate your shower experience to another level. You almost do not need to apply any body moisturiser.

Body Oil
I like to follow the shower oil with this Almond Body Oil. This continues the luxurious feeling that the shower oil started in the shower. A few sprays of this on each limb is all it takes and it sinks in really quickly. The combination of the shower oil and this body oil help that light sweet almond fragrance to remain on your skin that much longer, which is just what you want. It also does what it says on the bottle - it keeps your skin supple, smooth and firm. This is one of the best body moisturisers and body oils out there and I will definitely keep on using this for a long time to come.

Men's Deodorant
L'Occitane also has the seal of approval from men. My husband swears by their Eau des Baux Stick Deodorant.  This deodorant smells amazing, lasts for ages and is actually not a bad deodorant. I have purchased and repurchased this one and my husband would have it no other way.

The soaps, body lotions, shampoos and conditioners are also very good quality. I have liked all the ones I have tried so far and can't wait to try more!

What do you think of L'Occitane as a brand?

Review - L'Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream

I'm back, once again with a review for you - the L'Occitane Shea Butter foot cream ($42 for 150ml).
In my humble opinion, this is the BEST foot cream in existence! I have been using it for the last 5 years, and not once have I been tempted to switch to another. This is quite the miracle as I'm not one to stay loyal to any one product - I love to try out new things.

What's in my makeup bag

I thought I'd do a fun post today. One of my favourite posts to read is the What's in my makeup bag post and I thought it was past time for me to share my own. So here goes..

The makeup bag that I use at the moment is a freebie I got from L'Occitane - it came with some minis in there and is the perfect size for your everyday makeup. Plus, how gorgeous is that print??

In here, I have some makeup staples - the Rimmel Apocalips in Apocaliptic, the Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose, the Revlon cream blush in Flushed, the Rimel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in Bronze, a sample size of the Clinique High Impact mascara and the Diorskin Extreme Fit Supermoist powder foundation.

I also have some non-makeup beauty bits such as my little hair brush that I got from Boots, a glass nail file, a Vera Wang Pink Princess rollerball, an Avene hydrating face cream, the YSL Parisienne body lotion, an Almond hand cream from L'Occitane and of course, bobby pins.

What do you have in your makeup bags?
